Factory Images of Android Nougat Start Showing Up!

Just as we were writing about the release of Nougat's source code, the factory images of Nexus devices have started surfacing.

What are factory images?

Factory images are binary image files that allow you to restore your device's original factory firmware. The factory image is just the ROM that's on the phone when it leaves the factory.You will find these files useful if you are running a custom ROM on your device, and wish to return that device to its factory state.

Factory images are currently available only for the Nexus devices. If you are looking to download flashable ZIPs, then we have you covered up here.

At the time of writing this post, factory images were available only for Pixel C. They will be available for the other Nexus devices gradually.

Keep a few things in mind:

• Make sure to take a Nandroid backup. Store the backup in a safe place such as your computer's hard drive. You can always restore this backup to get your device running back again
• You must have knowledge about custom recoveries and know how to use ADB sideload to push the update from your computer to your device.
• You are proceeding to flash these ZIP files at your own discretion. Do not blame us if you run into trouble.
