Google Allo 2.0 Is Rolling Out Now: APK Download, Changelog

Just hours after we published our review of Google Allo, Justin Uberti, co-lead for Allo, took to Twitter to announce the rollout of Allo's next release, Allo 2.0.

Before making it's way over to APKMirror, the APK file of Allo 2.0 was spotted by Google+ user AhMed Abd AlBaSeT on Android app store Aptoide.

Changes

The latest iteration of Allo just seems to add support for features which were announced in Nougat 7.1, which include GIF support for keyboard, split screen , quick reply from the notification itself, Android Wear support and launcher shortcuts.

Apart from that a new splash screen can also be spotted when the application is opened. Options for monochrome chat have been introduced under the settings menu along with support for landscape mode and incognito key alerts.

By enabling the Monochrome option, you will be able to "replace your existing theme for clearer text visibility in chats".

Google Assistant has been uplifted from the "Preview Edition" it was showcased in Allo 1.0 and now supports direct voice recognition as well.

Options such as those of enabling or disabling the message sounds, notifications, vibration and selecting the notification ringtone have all now been bundled together under the Notifications header of the settings menu.

Last but not the least, the permission screen of Allo seems to be asking for VIP access now. Well, in order to give it a VIP access over other messaging applicaions, Google definitely needs to get it's heads sorted on how it plans to deal with it's three messaging applications: Allo, Messenger and Hangouts.
