Google Daydream View VR headset announced for $79

Google at its big event in San Francisco announced a new VR headset called Daydream View along with the new Pixel smartphones. The headset is compatible with Daydream ready phones like the Pixel and Pixel XL.

Unlike most plastic  VR headset available in the market, the Daydream View sports soft micro fiber for its exterior and is designed to fit over eye glasses. The facepad is removable and hand-washable.

Daydream View is very simple to get started with and just takes a few seconds to set up. You'll have to open the latch, and place the Daydream ready phone on the panel, close the latch, shut it with the elastic loop on top, and you're ready to go.

The VR headset comes with a controller which allows you to interact with the virtual environment. It has a home button, a menu button, clickable trackpad, volume buttons on side and built-in sensors for tracking and movement like swipe, swing or throw.

Google also announced a game that is based on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them for Daydream View. You'll also be able to play contents from YouTube, Street View, Play Movies, Google Photos, Hulu and Netflix.

The Google Daydream View is priced at $79 and will arrive in the US in November in three colors – Slate, Snow, and Crimson.
