Nougat 7.1's Night Light & Fingerprint Reader Gestures Won't Come To Nexus 6P, 5X, 6, 9

Google had recently released the Pixel phones in an event on October 4. The Pixel phones are powered by Android 7.1. Nougat 7.1 has now been extended by Google to it's existing range of Nexus devices in the form of developer previews. Android Nougat 7.1 in the Pixel devices has introduced two new features namely Night Light and Fingerprint Reader Gestures.

Night Light makes viewing your device at night or in dim surroundings by reducing the amount of blue light emitted by the display.

With the help of Fingerprint Reader Gestures, Pixel & Pixel XL users can view the notifications in the notification panel by simply swiping down the fingerprint scanner at the back of the device. More gestures might be added to the fingerprint gestures list with future updates.

Unfortunately, the Nexus 6P, 5X, 6 and 9 will not be getting both of these features owing to the lack of certain hardware which are required for the implantation of these features. Features such as the Google Assistant and the Pixel launcher have also been kept exclusive to the Pixel & Pixel XL. However, through the means of rooting and device modification using the Xposed framework, Google Assistant and the Pixel launcher can be used on any device running Android Marshmallow or Nougat.
