Nougat 7.1 Preview Build 1 Is Now Available For Nexus 6P, 5X & Pixel C

After we had leaked the Nougat 7.1 preview builds release dates, Google had confirmed that Nougat 7.1 will be available in the form of beta builds to a roster of Nexus and Pixel devices before the end of this month. Keeping it's promise and faith in our insiders intact, Google today pushed out the first preview builds of the first maintenance release of Nougat.

Nougat 7.1 preview builds are currently available for the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and the Pixel C. Preview builds for the Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Google Pixel and the Google Pixel XL will be available from next onwards, maybe when Google releases the second round of beta builds.

To try out the preview builds, you can either use the Android Beta program or flash the update manually. If you haven't opted in for the Beta program yet, you can do so by clicking here. By opting in for the Beta program, you will be able to get an OTA update for the preview build. After downloading the update, your device will automatically upgrade itself to Android 7.1 Preview Build 1. Using the flashing process, you can download the system image for your device and then flash them using ADB. Manually flashed devices will not be notified of further preview builds through OTA. Only users enrolled in the Beta program will get a notification when the future beta builds are available.

Developers can now upgrade their apps over to Nougat 7.1 API 25 (using Android Studio 2.2.2) and publish them over on the Play Store as well. Developers can rest out their apps using the alpha, beta and productivity channels of the Developer Console, before pushing out the final version of the app to the general public.
