OnePlus 3 To Get Nougat In The Form Of Community Build This Month, Stable Build By Year-End

OnePlus had started teasing about Nougat based OxygenOS last month and since then we haven't have heard from the company about Nougat for it's flagship devices. With the OnePlus 3T all set to be made official tomorrow, the whereabouts of Nougat update for the OnePlus devices have become more important to be known about.

The news has finally emerged from the OnePlus coffers and Brian Yoon, the Chinese startup's software head, has confirmed that Nougat based OxygenOS will now be available for the OnePlus 3 in the form of community builds later this month. Do remember that the community builds are only meant for those OnePlus users who would take anything in their stride, including bugs and performance issues, to try out the latest version of Nougat first hand. The Nougat based variant of OxygenOS would then be improved upon the bugs which the community builds might have. After all the bugs have been ironed out, the stable version of OxygenOS would then be rolled out to all the OnePlus 3 users by the end of this year. We do hope that OnePlus will follow suit for it's other devices as well and they will get to taste Nougat soon as well.

Whether the version number of OxygenOS, that will be made available later this month, will be 7.0 or 7.1 is still uncertain. Only time will tell that. However even if the community builds start from 7.0, we certainly do expect that the final rollout of Nougat for all the OnePlus 3 users will have the version number 7.1. Google works closely with all the device manufacturers and tries to ensure that the manufacturers update their devices with the latest offering of Android. Nougat 7.1 based beta builds are already available for the Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 6P, 5X and 9. Google has said that the final stable version of Nougat 7.1 would be rolled out to the Nexus & the Pixel owners later in December. Now since Nougat 7.1 will be coming officially by December and since Google is working closely with the device manufacturers to aid them in bringing up the latest Android offering to their device, the final build of OxygenOS in December may as well come with Nougat 7.1.

That's the news for the official update. Now, if you are too eager to try out Nougat on your OnePlus device (including the OnePlus One, Two and Three), we have got you covered here as well. Nougat 7.1 based CyanogenMod 14.1 experimental builds for the OnePlus 3 were made available a few days back. This was followed by the commencement of Nightly builds for a large range of devices as well. Out of all the OnePlus devices, Nightly builds are currently available only for the OnePlus 3. Nightly builds for the OnePlus One & Two will begin soon as well. However, Nougat based custom ROMs are already available for both the OnePlus One and Two on their XDA forums. You can flash these builds to get a taste of Nougat on your device.
