Fixed: Network Drop Issue for OnePlus 2 In OxygenOS v3.5.5 With v3.5.6

VoLTE is hot these days and Indians have a huge demand for it, thanks to Reliance Jio. OnePlus, keeping that in mind, had earlier released an OTA which brought VoLTE support to the device. The community  was rejoiced but that turned into a sad nightmare soon as users who tried their hands on to this update got to experience the Network Drop issue, which fades away the VoLTE thing and users were not even able to get the network. We reported this issue too and when the company got to know about this problem, they halted the OTA (v3.5.5) and continued working on fixing that.

The problem had occured with 3.5.5 iteration of OxygenOS and the fix has been integrated into 3.5.6 which is now rolling out to the OnePlus 2 users. In the meanwhile, users had tried their own tricks to solve the issue but only a small set of users were able to rectify it and that too on some functionality loss like switching off SIM2 to let SIM1 work as it should be. The users were indeed trying their best to search for a quick fix was badly needed. The company announced the 3.5.6 incremental update on the OnePlus forums, adding the changelog. They wrote-

Hi everyone,We are starting to push OxygenOS 3.5.6 Hotfix OTA for OnePlus 2 right now. The changes include:
  • Fixed persistent network drops
As usual, the rollout will be incremental. We will get everyone covered as quickly as possible. Please give us your thoughts and feedback in the comments below!
Never Settle.
***Important: For users who are affected by the IMEI loss issue, we are still drafting a plan to resolve this. Please be patient while we fix this.

It's an incremental rollout, so the OTA should be coming to everyone soon. If you are eager to get the OTA, you can try and install Opera VPN and set it to Canada or Germany, this worked for some users in the community and they instantly received the OTA by doing so. The update is of only 17MB, making it a patch fix and you need to be on v3.5.5 to receive this new OTA.

If you have been on an older version than 3.5.5, you will receive 1.2GB of  direct update to v3.5.6!

The update not only created the network drop issue but some users came across IMEI loss problem too. The team says that they are still working on that and it should be solved soon.
