Google Assistant Gains Home Control Feature

One of the biggest advantages of Google Home over the Google Assistant was, up until now, the ability to control smart home devices. But now with the latest update the same feature is rolling out to the Google Assistant under the name of Home Control.

Home Control is part of the new update to the Google App on Android. To access it, simply head to the Google Assistant settings and you will see the new Home Control tab. From here you can add and edit smart devices and rooms to later control them using just your voice. This feature is currently supported by a handful of smart home products from companies like Nest, Samsung, Philips, Honeywell and more.

While the Google Assistant is currently officially available only on the Google Pixel devices, meaning that only some users will have access to the described feature, it could soon arrive on other new smartphones.

What do you think of the new update? Would you still buy Google Home or will this new feature make the Assistant a good enough substitute?
