[Guide]Use Picture-in-Picture 'Without' YouTube Red On Android O

Picture-In-Picture is one of the most eye-catching highlights about Android O. PIP is a feature which runs an app even after you exit it (For example- the Youtube videos are played in a small floating window/box after you leave the Youtube app). But the question is- do all the apps support it? The answer is- No as only Chrome and Youtube Red are having the feature right now. But it seems like there's always a backdoor to bring stuff to work. So, a way to use PIP(Picture-In-Picture) without the need of Red subscription on YouTube has been found, that is, you can use PIP with normal YouTube too.

Reddit user jp_1896 posted this workaround stating that it works like a charm. Here's what you do-

  • Enable System UI Tuner
  • Go to Navigation Bar
  • Add an extra button (can be any side, left or right)
  • Select keycode 171 for this button and assign any icon of your choice

Boom! You can now use PIP without having the Red subscription of YouTube. Play the video and press the extra button to enable PIP for it. Thanks to the reddit user for sharing this awesome trick.
