OnePlus 2 Will "Never Settle" For Android Nougat

It seems like OnePlus 2 users will have to stick to Android Marshmallow for an undefined time. This comes after a OnePlus 2 user reached out to the OnePlus support team regarding the Nougat update for the OnePlus 2. Steven, who contacted OnePlus support, shared the reply he received from customer care.

Hi Steven, A pleasant day to you! Thank you for reaching OnePlus Customer support. This is Alex from OnePlus. we greatly , appreciate. Your time and effort in reaching out to us. Your concern is of utmost importance and I will be helping you out with your ticket. As much as we would like to give the latest update on the OnePlus 2, we've discontinued updates for dated devices. But we will continue to support the limited warranty for current users and provide updates and support the best way we can even for OnePlus 2 users.
Let me know if this helps.
Best Regards
Alex

This may come as a letdown to the users of the model. But according to the company, it is much better to stop the OTA updates to the dated OnePlus 2. The company is trying to focus on the later versions that will be unveiled later.

OnePlus X, a flagship release that followed the OnePlus 2 model, can also be left in the cold. OnePlus X shares a similar hardware structure with OnePlus 2 and one wouldn't be surprised if it also gets cut off from the rollout.

The creators of OnePlus devices laid out a pretty friendly interface whereby a user is able to tweak the device to fit his or her expectations. This means that regardless of the OTA updates shut down, one can switch to Nougat simply by doing ROM transfer. There are a lot of OnePlus custom ROMS in the market.
