Essential PH-1 News Update - Available Through TELUS, Order Emails & Images

The past few hours have seen a lot of information emerge about Essential's PH-1 (also referred to as 'Phone'). We decided to club all the information into a single article.

While we wait for Essential to announce the availability details of the unlocked variant of PH-1 (which will hopefully be detailed by the week's end), Canadians can get their hands on the PH-1 by the second week of September. The Canadian carrier TELUS has a launch-exclusive deal with Essential and the Phone can be now bought in Canada via TELUS. The carrier has opened bookings for the Phone on its website. The pre-booking cost is a mammoth CA$1050 (US$826.28). TELUS claims that the Phone will be shipped within three to four weeks after the order has been placed (if the pre-order is placed today, it will be shipped by the second week of September).

A few customers who have pre-booked the Phone have reported of receiving emails stating that their orders will be shipping within a week. These customers had also received an invite to get the "First Look" of the PH-1. The invite-only event seems restricted only to the customers, that is it will be minus the media. The events are currently known to be hosted in New York City on August 21 and Los Angeles on August 25. It is believed that the "First Look" event would allow the customers to get their hands-on the Essential PH-1 before they got their own pre-booked PH-1 delivered to them. The email received by the customer reads as follows:

If you reserved an Essential 360 Camera, you will receive a separate email as soon as it’s ready to be shipped. Your Essential Phone is unlocked, future-proof, and designed around you. For a limited time, we’ve also made it easy for you to get the phone for as low as $29.13 per month.

A 9to5Google reporter who reserved a 'Pure White' PH-1 received another email. The email stated that the "Essential Phone (Black Moon) is starting to ship" and that the shipment of "Pure White device is still a few weeks away." The email is attached below.

The above image tweeted by popular tech YouTuber Lewis showcases the packaging of the PH-1. The Essential Phone boasts of a 5.7" 1440p IPS display, 4GB RAM along with Snapdragon 835, dual 13MP rear cameras, 8MP selfie snapper, 3040mAh battery and Nougat 7.1.1. Storage wise the PH-1 has an internal storage of 128GB which can further be expanded via microSD.
