Rumor: Pixel 2 & Pixel XL 2 Will Ditch The Headphone Jack

Google showcased the above slide (without the struck off 'not') during the presentation launch of the first generation Pixel devices - the Pixel and the Pixel XL. The slide was obviously Google's jibe at Apple for ditching the headphone jack from the iPhone 7. Google now seems to be treading on the same path it criticized Apple for. The rumor mill has it that the second generation Pixel and Pixel XL will be short of the 3.5 mm audio jack port.

Tech journalist Stephen Hall claims to have received knowledge about the headphone jack removal from an insider. Google is rumored to launch three Pixel devices this year - walleye, muskie and taimen. While walleye and muskie represent the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 respectively, taimen is believed to be largest of the Pixel trio. Hall hopes to see the headphone jack being included in taimen.

3D renders of the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 were recently leaked by popular leaker Onleaks. The video above shows the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 from various angles. If these renders turn out to be true - which owing to Onleaks track record seems very likely - walleye and muskie will be sans the headphone jack. Whether this rumor turns out to be true, only time will tell.
