Google Is Now Rolling September Security Patch To Pixel & Nexus Devices, Factory & OTA Images Released

Google released the September security patch to the Android Security Bulletin last week. Usually the update rollout for a security patch begins as soon as the patch is made live on the Security Bulletin. However this time around Google delayed the update rollout for a week, even as the Nokia 5 and some Xperia devices received the September patch.

Google has now begun the rollout of the update to various Pixel, Nexus and Android One devices. Android Police yesterday reported about the September security update being rolled out to Verizon Pixel/XL but they were unsure whether the update is being rolled out to the unlocked models. We recently received an update screenshot from one of our readers which confirms the commencement of the update rollout.

The above screenshot shows a Nexus 6P receiving the September patch along with the Oreo 8.0 update. In addition to the OTA rollout, Google has also released the factory and OTA images of the update for those who wish to upgrade their device manually. You can find the OTA and factory images at the links in the source.

The build numbers of the update are as follows.
  • Nexus 6P: OPR6.170623.017
  • Nexus 5X: OPR4.170623.006
  • Nexus 6: NGI55D
  • Nexus 9 LTE: N4F27O
  • Nexus 9 Wi-Fi: N9F27L
  • Pixel C: OPR1.170623.026
  • Google Pixel/Pixel XL: OPR3.170623.007
The images for Nexus Player weren't available at the time of writing this article. We will update this post as and when the images become available.
