Micromax, BSNL launches Bharat 1 4G VoLTE feature phone for Rs. 2,200


Domestic handset maker Micromax has launched Bharat 1, the brand's first 4G VoLTE capable feature phone in partnership with BSNL. Micromax is calling it Desh ka 4Gfone, and is targeting JioPhone, in the sub Rs. 2,500 handset market, that is becoming the new battle front for telecom operators.

Previously Airtel teamed up with Karbonn to launch the ultra affordable A40 Indian Android smartphone priced at Rs. 1,399. Moreover, reports suggest that Vodafone and Idea Cellular are also planning to join the bandwagon.

The dual-SIM Bharth 1 features 2.4-inch QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) display, and is powered 1.1GHz dual-core Qualcomm 205 Mobile Platform coupled with Adreno 304 GPU, 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage. It has 2MP rear camera and 0.3MP front camera and also supports microSD card, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. It is fueled by 2000mAh battery and also supports 22 languages.

Micromax is also offering multiple entertainment contents on the handset like Live TV, music, movies and videos. It also comes pre-loaded with BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) mobile app, and is expected to support popular apps like Facebook and WhatsApp in the near future.

Users can avail unlimited voice calla and data per month with BSNL's Rs. 97 pack. The handset also comes bundled with BSNL SIM card. That said, unlike JioPhone, Bharat 1 will no be restricted to BSNL's network, and can be used on any network, which means you can use SIM card of any other network including Jio to access 4G VoLTE services. It's worth mentioning that BSNL does not 4G VoLTE services live yet.

The Micromax Bharat-1 has been priced at Rs. 2,200 and will be available across the country via offline stores in Black color.
