Moto G4 Plus Gets September Security Patch

Motorola isn't like Google, Nokia or Sony who update their devices with monthly security patches. Instead the Lenovo owned company updates its devices with security patches on a quarterly basis, that is once in every four months. The third quarter of the year just came to an end and Motorola has hence started rolling out the September security patch to the G4 Plus. Since the G4 and G4 Plus get most of their updates together, the Moto G4 should be getting this update as well.

The Moto G4 was recently in news for Motorola not listing it in its list of devices to be updated to Oreo. Motorola's mistake drew much flak from the enthusiast community who criticized the company for not living up to its promise. As a result Motorola had to give in and the G4/G4 Plus are now officially assured of an upgrade to Oreo.

The September security patch is being rolled out via an OTA update. The update size is 35mb and it carries the build number NPJS25.93-14-10. If you haven't received the OTA notification yet, you can proceed to Settings > About phone > Check for updates and manually check for the update. The update is already running as a wide rollout in India.
