Moto G5 Plus Gets August Security Patch In India

Motorola is known for rolling out security patches to it's devices on a quarterly basis. The Moto G4 Plus was recently updated with the September security patch and now the Moto G5 Plus is being updated with the August security patch.

The release notes of the update mention the August 1 security patch and fixes for audio issues. The Moto G5 Plus users have been complaining about problems in connecting to WiFi networks. Although Motorola has acknowledged this issue several times on it's community forums, this issue is yet to be addressed. The G5 Plus and its younger sibling - the G5 - are assured of an update to Oreo. We hope Motorola resolves the WiFi issue with an update soon.

The update comes in for 53.9MB and carries the build number NPN25.137-67-5. The update rollout is currently being only staged in India. We will update this post as and when we have the news for the rollout in other regions.

Since the update is being rolled out via OTA, it may take some time for the update to reach your device. You would get an update notification when the over-the-air update is available for your device. You can also check for the update manually by heading over to Settings > About phone > System updates.
