Motorola Posts Kernel Source Code For Moto X4

Motorola has been very punctual with the timely releases of kernel source codes for all the Android powered devices it has released till date. The Moto X4 was originally announced in August for the European market. An Android One version of the device was later on unveiled for United States in an exclusive tie up with Project Fi. The X4 will be launched in India on November 13.

Motorola has now released the kernel source code of the X4. The source code can be found at the GitHub link at the end of this article. The source code has been tagged as 'Payton push for Nougat 7.1.1' on GitHub. Payton is the codename of X4 and this source code should be generic for the both the stock as well as the Android One variant of the Moto X4.

Kernel sources help developers to build custom ROMs, kernels and recoveries for a device. At the time of writing this article, there was no visible development for the X4 on the XDA forums. It is possible to obtain root access though. If you wish to unlock the bootloader of a Moto X4, you can check out Motorola's support page here to get started.
