Rogers Confirms That Moto X Play Is Getting Nougat 7.0 On October 31

The Moto X Play on Rogers will finally be getting its Nougat update on October 31. The Canadian carrier has updated its OS upgrade schedule page to mention the Android 7.0 update for the X Play. The Moto X Play was launched in July 2015 with Lollipop onboard and was later on updated to Marshmallow in January 2016.

It is to be noted that the company has clearly mentioned that these are only the expected dates and they are keen to release the updates on the mentioned dates, but if in case things go wrong the release can shift further. The update will also bring a new security patch (which month? that's not known).

The Moto X Play units in India were updated to Nougat 7.1.1 (X Play on Rogers will be getting 7.0) in June. Nougat 7.0 brings a lot of new goodies along with it. These include an updated user interface with a paged quick settings panel, quick reply in notifications, split screen mode for multitasking and an improved Doze for better battery life.
