iPhone X Passes JerryRigEverything's Torture Tests With Flying Colors

JerryRigEverything aka Zack is known for putting newly launched smartphones through his array of durability tests which include scratching, burning and bending the phone. These tests give us an idea on how long the phone can last into the future. The iPhone X was announced two months ago and recently went up for sale for a starting price of $999. Zack got hold of an iPhone X recently and put it through his torture tests.

First up was the scratch test. Herein Zack uses Mohs picks of hardness to determine how scratch resistant the screen is. The iPhone X scored a six on the scratch test, which is in par with other top of the line smartphones like the Pixel 2, LG V30 and Galaxy Note 8. A score of six means that the iPhone X's screen won't be affected by scuffs from keys or coins. The front facing camera and the back of the iPhone X are covered by the same glass used for the screen.

Zack warns the iPhone X users that glass being susceptible to damage can get cracked. Moreover, Apple charges a hefty sum of $549 for the replacement of back glass. Zack therefore recommends iPhone X owners to use a cover or skin to protect their phone from damage.

The edges of the phone and the side buttons are made from stainless steel. Apart from giving a premium and beautiful finish to the phone, stainless steel being a heavy alloy lends sturdiness to the phone. Apple has also included a layer of plastic buffer between the glass and metal frame of the iPhone which further adds on to the device's strength.

The iPhone X lasted twenty five seconds under the flame of JerryRigEverything's lighter. If I'm not mistaken, this is the longest a phone has withstood the burn test this year. Since the iPhone X has an OLED screen, the pixels turned white after twenty five seconds and didn't recover.'

The bend test saw the iPhone X flex slightly but there wasn't any separation between the glass and metal frame. The iPhone X hence emerges unscathed from JerryRigEverything's torment testing.
