Unlocked Variants Of HTC U11 In Americas To Get Oreo Today

It's been three months since Google released the stable version of Oreo and now a lot of phones are being updated to Android's newest iteration. Sony updated the Xperia XZ Premium to Android 8.0 last month, followed by the Xperia XZ and XZs yesterday. The OnePlus 3 and 3T along with the Nokia 8 also got their Oreo updates last week. It's now HTC's turn to join the Oreo club. HTC's VP of Product Management Mo Versi has announced that Oreo will be rolling out to the U11 starting today.

This update is only meant for the unlocked HTC U11s in the Americas (all the countries in the continents of North America and South America). The timing of the update for other regions is unknown. Versi also stated that HTC is working hard with Sprint to get Oreo out "as quickly as possible".

Versi went on to mention that the Oreo update for the HTC 10, U11 Ultra and U11 Life would be "coming soon". If you own an unlocked U11 in the Americas, you can expect to receive an OTA notification of the update soon. You can head over to Settings > About phone > System updates and check for the update manually.
