Android 8.0 Oreo Rolling Out To First Gen Nokia 6 In China

The first generation Nokia 6 was launched last year with Nougat 7.0. Later in June HMD promised to update the Nokia 6 to Oreo. A beta program for testing Oreo was launched in December. Now after a month of beta testing, the Nokia 6 is getting the stable Android 8.0 Oreo update.

After going through the changelog, I feel HMD could have made better use of formatting and wording. To save you from scratching your heads, I have tried to make sense of the changelog:

• Upgrade to Android 8.0
• Updated Settings UI
• Added screen and pedometer card (probably a pedometer widget)
• Enhanced power saving and background activity manager
• Enhanced low light camera image quality
• Added notification wake up (probably Ambient Display; the screen of the Nokia 6 lights up on Nougat when a notification is received) 
• Added expanded screenshots
• Added universal search (probably a search functionality outside of stock Android)
• Added screen record functions
• Added Nokia cloud account service

The update size is over 1.5GB and has the build number 00CN_5_210. The update is currently rolling out to TA-1000 (Chinese) version of the Nokia 6. It's only about time that other models (TA-1003, TA-1021, and TA-1033) will get the update.

It's worth mentioning here that Oreo isn't the last major update for the Nokia 6. HMD has already promised to update the device to Android P.
