Moto G4 Play finally tastes Android Nougat

The Moto G4 Play is a toned down version of Moto G4/G4 Plus. It was released in 2016 and shipped with Android Marshmallow.

The Moto G4/G4 Plus tasted Nougat last year, and as for the Moto G4 Play, it got soak test for Android 7.1.1, but Motorola never released the update.

However, this is changing now, and Moto G4 Play is finally being updated to Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The update carries the build number NPI26.48-36 and is 644MB in size. Along with Nougat goodies, the update also bumps the Android security level to November.

Sadly, Moto G4 Play will not receive Android Oreo, and Nougat will be the last major software upgrade. But we can expect Motorola to push security updates to the phone once in a blue moon.
