Xiaomi Begins Oreo 8.1 Beta Test for Mi A1, Stable Release To Roll Out Soon

Xiaomi launched the Mi A1 back in September 2017 under the Android One program. The device was powered by Nougat 7.1.2 at the time of release and got its Oreo 8.0 update in December. Since then the Mi A1 has been getting monthly security updates.

Now, the Mi A1 is all set to receive the next iteration of Android which is Oreo 8.1. The beta testing has begun for the same and we can expect the stable update to roll out soon.

The update is limited to closed beta testers only. As can be seen in the screenshots above, there is no support for Project Treble. That was to be expected since the Oreo 8.0 update lacked support for Treble too.

If things go well, we can see the stable update rolling out to the device real soon. The beta update brings the June 2018 security patch along with it, so, it would be safe to bet that the stable OTA might come either towards the end of June or beginning of July. We will keep you posted with more news regarding the update.
