CyanDelta Now Supports LineageOS!
If you are someone who loves to flash custom ROMs and if you ain't familiar with CyanDelta, then I guess you should be. This app was a life saver for me when it came to upgrading from one CM nightly to another. Before the onset of Reliance Jio, which changed the way we (Indians) thought of data data consumption, I had to rely either on an expensive 3G mobile data connection or on my Wi-Fi connection (which has a high speed data limit) to upgrade to the latest CM nightly. I was thus wary and skeptical of my data consumption in either of the cases described above. Then I also had this eagerness to check out what the latest CM nightly has on offer. However I just couldn't imagine downloading a 200MB something CM nightly on a daily basis, as it would then rob me off the high speed data. This is where CyanDelta stepped in, it helped me in making both the ends meet. All I had to do was download an official build of CM once and flash it. I could update my device to the subsequent nightlies using CyanDelta. CyanDelta uses some complex algorithms to generate delta updates, which usually weigh only 10-20MB, and it then integrates these delta updates into the official build of CM I had downloaded previously to generate a flashable ZIP of the latest nightly.
Apart from that, CyanDelta Updater can also flash other ZIPs such as a custom kernel, Xposed framework etc while updating the existing ROM installation. CyanDelta also supports delta updates for OmniROM and Paranoid Android (AOSPA).
However, following the demise of CyanogenMod, the application turned redundant for updating CM builds. Post CM's resurrection in the form of LineageOS, I had hopes that CyanDelta might be updated to ensure support for LineageOS and that update is finally here. Although there is no update to the app itself, there has been a server side update which ensures CyanDelta's compatibility with LineageOS. So the next time you wish to update your existing installation of LineageOS, you can consider using CyanDelta for the purpose.
