Huawei P8 Lite is Receiving The March Security Patch Before Nexus & Pixel Devices
Even though the March 2017 security patch rollout is in the hindsight for the Nexus, Pixel and Android One devices, several OEMs have started rolling out the March security patch to their devices. When it comes to security patches, Google is usually the first one to push them out. Lately, Sony has also been pushing out updates at a quicker pace than it has previously managed. Huawei now seems to be toughening up it's update speeds too. The Chinese tech giant has started seeding the March 1, 2017 security patch to the P8 Lite users.
The update has started hitting the P8 Lite users in Portugal. The P8 Lite was launched in May 2015 and was powered by Android Lollipop out of the box. The phone was later upgraded to Marshmallow through Huawei's customised Android skin of EMUI 4.0. The device is not a contender of the Nougat update and the March security patch is being received by users who are on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
In case you own a P8 Lite with model number ALE-L121, you can either wait for the OTA notification of the update or use one of the OTA links below and flash the update manually using ADB. The OTA and firmware images of the updates are linked as follows.
The build number B594 is for the dual sim variants of the P8 Lite, while the build number B595 is for the single sim variants. Please flash the appropriate ZIP file accordingly.
OnePlus had also included the March 2017 security patch in the Open Beta builds for OnePlus 3/3T. Google is expected to roll out the March patch in the coming week.
