Motorola updates each of its supported devices with security patches once every quarter. The G5S Plus received its last security update in October in the form of the September security patch. For the first quarter of 2018, Motorola is now rolling out the January security patch to the device.

Motorola has updated the release notes on its Indian website confirming the update.

This update introduces changes including the following:
  • Android security: includes the updates of Android security patches up to 1 January 2018.
  • Fix for KRACK vulnerability: includes fix to address the KRACK vulnerability issue, which
    affects Wi-Fi networks.

The above screenshot comes courtesy of a Brazilian G5S Plus user. This means that the update is currently rolling out in both India and Brazil.

The update comprises of the January 1, 2018 security patch and fixes for the KRACK vulnerability. The build number of the update is NPSS26.116-64-2. The Moto G5S should also be getting this update too. Since this is an OTA update, it will take some time to reach your device, so please be patient.
