Xperia X & X Compact Are Being Updated To Android Oreo 8.0

Back in September, Sony released a list of ten devices it will be updating to Oreo. Sony started by updating the Xperia XZ Premium in September, and then the Xperia XZ, XZs and X Performance two months later in November. The Japanese company is now rolling out Oreo 8.0 to the Xperia X and X Compact.

The update is rolling out with build number 34.4.A.0.364 and weighs nearly 1.2GB in size.

The support for Project Treble isn't there. Also, the Xperia X and X Compact are over an year and a half old, so they are closing on the two year period for which Sony updates its devices. Project Treble is meant to enhance the longevity of a device (through software updates) by making it easier for the device manufacturer to update the device.

The update is currently being rolled out over-the-air. This essentially means that the update will take some time to show up on your device, so please be patient. You will get a notification when the update is available. You can also check for the update manually by heading over to Settings > About phone > System updates.
