The Pixel 2 can automatically turn on Do Not Disturb mode when you're driving

The Pixel 2  and Pixel 2 XL come with many new features and highlights, and the latest one that is being talked about can be a life saver. This feature will be able to toggle on Do Not Disturb mode when you're driving.

The reference of this feature was found on an app called Pixel Ambient Services, which is available on the Play Store for the new Pixel devices. The service app has a "Do Not Disturb", mode, which is found under the 'Driving' settings.

This mode, if enabled, will turn on Do Not Disturb function automatically when you're in a moving vehicle, and disable the phone from alerting you of incoming calls and texts. The service uses the device's motion sensors and Bluetooth connection to determine if you're in the car and trigger the feature.

Android Police notes that one of the drawback of this feature is that it won't be able to differentiate between the driver and the passenger. So even if you're not the one driving, the DND mode will still be activated. However, there is a toggle button, so you can turn it off, when the feature is not required.

Apple and Samsung also have their own version of do not disturb mode, and both send auto-replies to people who call or text, to let them know you're driving, but it is not clear if Google have this feature.
