Microsoft Launch New Outlook App For iOS And Android

Microsoft launched Outlook for Android and iOS phones and tablets and is free to download on both platforms. The Outlook app for Android and iOS devices are based on e-mail app Acompli which was acquired by Microsoft for $200 million last year. iOS users will be getting the full version of the Outlook app, Android users will be getting the preview edition.

What is Accompli ? Acompli is a mobile app that allows for user interaction with email messages as well as management of multiple email accounts in one programme. In addition, the tool also organizes one's calendar and shared files. This application provides for integration with cloud storage platforms such as Dropbox, OneDrive, and iCloud it also carries support for Microsoft Exchange and Gmail. [Wikipedia]

The Outlook App for Android and iOS devices works with Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, (including Hotmail, MSN), Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and iCloud. The app allows you to send attachments from cloud storage website includeing Microsoft's OneDrive and Dropbox to name a few. The new Outlook Apps now also support various swipe gestures, which you can customise to your need. Microsoft has also added minor Office app touches like a coloured ribbon UI.
