Meizu Pro 6 reportedly to use Samsung's new Exynos 8870 chipset

Samsung is reportedly working on a Exynos 8870, a less powerful version of its Exynos 8 Octa 8890 SoC with custom CPU cores, which will be made for other handset manufacturers such as Meizu.

The 8870 SoC will use the same custom designed CPU cores based on 64-bit ARMv8 architecture, but will offer lower clock speed when compared to the 8890 SoC. The report adds that Meizu will be the first OEM to utilise the new Exynos 8870 SoC in its next flagship, the Meizu Pro 6 and its mini variant Pro 6 mini. Both are expected to release by Q2 2016. Details about the Exynos 8870 processor and Meizu Pro 6 are scarce at the moment.

To recall, Meizu has been using Exynos processors on their smartphone. Not long ago, Meizu launched the Pro 5, that camera with monster specs including Samsung's Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor, the same which powers Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note5.
