Sony Xperia Z6 Lite with Snapdragon 650 SoC, metal body might be in the works

It is safe to assume that in 2016, Sony will out the Xperia Z6 family of smartphones, comprising of many models like the Xperia Z5 family. That being said, a new report coming out of China suggests that Sony Mobile is working on the Xperia Z6 Lite smartphone.

The Xperia Z6 Lite will sport a 5-inch display with 2.5D curved glass, powered by hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor (previously know as SD-618) and will have a metal made back cover. The screen resolution is not known, but we can expect it to be a 1080p screen, since it's a lite version and mid-range device. The Xperia Z6 Lite is rumored to cost around CNY 2,500 ($385 | Rs. 26,000) and launch sometime in May along with other members of Xperia 6 line up.

Initial leaks suggested that a total of five different Xperia models are in the line, including a 4-inch Z6 Mini, 4.6-inch Xperia Z6 Compact, 5.2-inch Z6, 5.8-inch Xperia Z6 Plus and a 6.4-inch Xperia Z6 Ultra. Later a T-Mobile roadmap omitted the Z6 Mini, dropping the number of Xperia devices to four, two of them equipped with Snapdragon 820, and the other by Snapdragon 652 SoC (previously known as SD-620). There was no mention of the 5-inch Xperia Z6 Lite until now.

Sony's 2015 Xperia Z5 line up included Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia Z5 Compact. It looks like Sony is planning to announce not three, but six Xperia Z6 models. Note that these are just rumors and nothing has been officially confirmed by Sony.
