HP announces all metal Chomebook 13 with Skylake processor, prices start at $499


HP has announced a new Chromebook dubbed Chromebook 13 with high-end specs, targeted at business customers. The Chromebook sports an all-metal design with a durable brushed anodized aluminum chassis measuring 12.9mm thin and weighing 1.29kg.

The HP Chromebook 13 sports 13.3-inch (3200 x 1800) IPS display and supports up to an Intel Core M7 Skylake processor and up to 16GB RAM. The entry-level models is likely to lower specs. The Chromebook can be configured with 1080p display, 4GB/8GB RAM, and processor option including Pentium 4405Y, Core M3 and Core M5 processor.

Each model will include 32GB eMMC 5.0 storage, 2 x USB Type-C ports, a USB 3.0 port, an SD card reader, 802.11ac WiFi and a headphone jack. It is backed by 45 watt-hour battery, which is rated to deliver 11.5 hours of usage between charges.

The HP Chromebook 13 prices start at $499 and will be available in April. HP is also selling a USB Type-C docking station called Elite USB-C Docking Station along with the Chromebook 13. It can be used to connect the chromebook to a variety of accessories and connect two external displays.
