Samsung Galaxy X foldable smartphone with flexible 4K display rumored to come in 2017


There have been rumors in the past that Samsung is working on a fordable smartphone. Now a new report coming out of China suggests that Samsung will launch five flagship smartphones in 2017. Four of the five are predicted to be Galaxy S8, S8 edge, Note 7 and Note 7 edge, while the fifth phone will be called Galaxy X and will sports a foldable 4K display.

The first four Samsung flagship line-up for 2017 will come with Super AMOLED display with 2.5K resolution and RGB subpixel arrangement, while Galaxy X will have a foldable 4K screen with diamond PenTile subpixel arrangement.

Samsung at CES 2013, introduced its flexible OLED display called YOUM display. At the event, Samsung also showed prototypes of foldable smartphones utilizing YOUM display. The company has been working on foldable smartphones since 2013, under Project Valley. Samsung already has several patents for technology that will be used inside the foldable smartphone.
