ThunderZap Kernel 5.5 is now available for Yu Yureka & Yureka+

Varun Chitre, Recognized Developer & Recognized Contributor on XDA Developers, announced the release of the ThunderZap 5.5 kernel for both the Yu Yureka and Yureka+ on July 1. This is a maintenance release to maintain compatibility with Marshmallow based ROMs. The last ThunderZap kernel update for Yu Yureka and Yureka+ was released back in October 2015. It had been more than eight months dince the last update and this update was hence overdue.

Changelog

  • Compatibility with CM13 and Marshmallow based ROMs.

  •  Some performance enhancements.

  • Removed some bloat and un-needed services.

  • Reduced power consumption by ThunderPlug.

The Real Deal - ThunderZap 6.0

ThunderZap 6.0 is still in the works. It is expected to bring in some new tweaks and upstreamed linux patches. Varun posted a screenshot of the same:

As it can be seen, the kernel is patched at 3.10.49 and the SELinux status is Enforcing. I expect that the final public release of TZ would be patched to Linux 3.10.102, the latest Linux security patch.

Downloads

You can download the ThunderZap kernel from both the ThunderZap Control app or the ThunderZap website.
To download the kernel from the ThunderZap website, click here.
To control the features of the kernel, you need to download the ThunderZap Control app. The app has been made by Varun too. It comes in two variants: ThunderZap Control (Free) and ThunderZap Control Pro ($1.48 or INR 100). The paid variant allows you to control a few more features and is ad free.

Best Settings

I made two videos to explain each and every feature which the ThunderZap kernel has to offer. This includes settings for best battery backup, performance and fair usage.

The first video is 44 minutes long. Huh! Are you kidding? No. I know that the video is long, but at the end of the video, you will be able to understand how to control every feature yourself, without help from others. I have tried explaining what a kernel is meant for and I have also explained what is a governor, what does each governor do, how you can control them. At the same time I have also covered up ThunderPlug, ThunderCharge, ThunderSonic and the ThunderQuake engine. The video is not scripted too. So, if you want to watch the video, go here:

Part II is optional. It is only meant for those who want to use Xposed along with Amplify, Power Nap and Greenify to reduce wakelocks and increase the deep sleep time to suck out more juice out of the battery.
