Android 7.1 Developer Preview now available for Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel C

As promised, Google has released Android 7.1 developer preview for the Nexus 5X and, Nexus 6P smartphones and Pixel C tablet. The preview brings a number of Pixel phone's features to these devices, allowing developers to test Android 7.1 features in their apps including such as app icons, app shortcuts and image keyboard support.

Google says the new developer preview is and incremental update and represents beta quality software for the Nexus devices and finalizes the APIs at Level 25. Google is also encouraging developers to update their apps to support Android 7.1 on Google Play, so Pixel owners will start seeing circular app icons and app shortcuts on third-party apps.

To get the Developer Preview (build NPF10C), You can enroll your eligible device in the Android beta program to get the OTA update, or flash the system images manually to your devices.

The Android 7.1 Developer Preview will also be available to the Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and other devices in November. The before final Android 7.1 will be released to the public in December 2016.
