Samsung reportedly haults Galaxy Note7 production; U.S telecos AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon stop sales

Following multiple reports of Galaxy Note7's battery issue, Samsung had to recall the device, due to exploding battery fears. After the global recall, Samsung started replacement program by replacing the faulty Galaxy Note7 units  with new units that were supposed to be safe. However last week, a safe Galaxy Note7 unit caught fire on a U.S flight and over the weekend four incidents of Galaxy Note7 catching fire were reported across the globe.

Now according to Korea's Yonhap News, Samsung has halted production of the Galaxy Note7 temporarily. The report says that the pause in production is in corperation with consumer safety regulartion from South Korea, China and the U.S. "This measure includes a Samsung plant in Vietnam that is responsible for global shipments (of Galaxy Note 7)" adds the report.

Meanwhile in the U.S several telecom operators including Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T have suspended sale of Galaxy Note7. The operators have issued an statement mentioning that Samsung is working with Consumer Production Safety Commission (CPSC) in the U.S to investigate the safety of Galaxy Note7.

The telecom operators are also allowing Galaxy Note7 users to replace their unit with any other smartphone in their inventory.

The Samsung Galaxy Note7 was expected to go on sale in India before Diwali, but with the latest developments, it appears that the release date will be pushed back.
