Airtel's digital teleco journey begins with Project Next


Airtel has launched Project next, which is an extension of the teleco's two-year old Project Leap network transformation program. However, the new Project Next is a digital innovation program aimed at transforming customer experience across all its services and touch points. 

Under Porject Next, Airtel has made announcements for its postpaid subscribers, and introduced refreshed My Airtel App, Airtel Secure and next-gen Airtel Stores.

Starting August 1, 2017, Airtels' Postpaid customers no longer need to worry about unused data. They will be able to carry forward their unused monthly data quota to the next billing cycle. Customers can track their usage and data carrier forward on the MyAirtel app, and need to stay on the same data plan to get the rollover benefits. Up to 200GB data can be carried forward as part of this process.

Airtel postpaid customers will also be able to add multiple postpaid connections to their account and enjoy savings up to 20 percent with the 'Family Promise Offer'. This will allow family members to pool and share their data benefits across all connections. The new MyAirtel app will also let customers add prepaid connections to a family postpaid plans, and make the switch from prepaid to postpaid without paperwork or visiting the Airtel store or calling customer care.

The teleco unveiled a new version of MyAirtel app as well. The updated app will offer real time notifications, fulfillment of services and self-care, change of plans and more with a click of a button.

Airtel also announced 'Airtel Secure' a digital smartphone protection suite, which allows users to protect their smartphone against accidental/liquid damage for up to two years. If a customer's device is accidentally damaged, Airtel will arrange for pick-up of the device, get it repaired and deliver it back to the customer. Airtel Secure also includes Norton Mobile Security Suite, that will offer anti-malware protection and an App Advisor that flags privacy risks.

Lastly, Airtel announced its next-gen Airtel Stores, two of which are already open in Gurgaon, New Delhi. These stores will provide interactive experiences allowing customers to design their own solutions in a touchscreen table top. Also the new stores will have Digital Entertainment Hubs, that will let customers explore and experience Airtel's digital content offerings like music, movies, Live TV, games and more.
