Xiaomi Mi Max 2 lands in India at Rs. 16,999


Xiaomi's new supersized phablet has finally reached Indian shores. Today at an event in New Delhi, the Chinese device maker launched the Mi Max 2 in the country.

It has been priced at Rs. 16,999, and will be available from Mi.com and Mi Home during Mi third anniversary sale on July 20 and July 21 at 12am. The availability will expand on July 27, as it will be available on Flipkart, Amazon, Tata Cliq and Paytm mall. On the same day it will also be available from offline stores such as Poorvika, BigC, Sangeetha, Croma, Lot, Vijay Sales, eZone and Reliance Digital.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is the successor of Mi Max, and like its predecessor comes with a large screen and beefy battery capacity. It flaunts a 7.6mm thick metal unibody design and has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. It runs Android Nougat based MIUI 8.

The phablet's main highlight is the massive 5300mAh battery, which promises up to 18 hours of video playback or up to 57 hours of talk time on a single charge. It also supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 along with parallel charging that lets you charge the phone up to 68 percent in one hour.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has a 6.44-inch Full HD IPS 2.5D curved glass display and the screen is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 3 to keep scratches at bay. The performance is handled by a 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 Mobile Platform futher aided by Adreno 506 GPU and 4GB RAM. On-board storage is 64GB, which can be further expanded via microSD card.

For photography, it gets 12MP Sony IMX386 rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, f/2.2 aperture and PDAF. Front facing camera for selfies is a 5MP 85-degree wide-angle sensor.

In terms of connectivity, the Mi Max 2 offers hybrid dual-SIM slots (micro SIM+nano SIM or micro SIM + microSD card), 4G LTE, VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C, infrared sensor and GPS + GLONASS.

The Mi Max 2 will be offered in a single Matte Black color, and will come bundled with up to 100GB 4G data for Reliance Jio customers at 10GB data per recharge for 10 recharges.
