Google's Pixel 2 will be unveiled on October 4

Google has locked the October 4 date to unveil its next-generation Pixel smartphones. A dedicated website for the new Pixel devices has also been set called madbyby.google.com, and reads "Thinking about changing phones? Stay tuned for more on October 4". This is the same date the first gen Pixel phones saw the light of day.

Google has also posted a video on YouTube as well. The video indicates that the upcoming Pixel phone will not disappoint and have good battery life, more storage, good camera, excellent build quality among others.

Like last year, Google is expected to launch two Pixel phones this year. The smaller Pixel 2 will be manufactured by HTC and come with HTC U11-like squeezable frame (called Active Edge). It will ditch the 3.5mm audio jack, instead have stereo speakers.

The larger Pixel XL 2 will be built by LG, and will boast a bezel-less design, like the LG G6/V30 Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+/Note8.

As for the specs, the Pixel 2 is rumored to have 4.97-inch Full HD OLED display, while the Pixel XL 2 will have 5.99-inch QHD OLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Both are likely feature Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform, 4GB RAM, single rear camera and fingerprint scanner. It will run Google's latest Android iteration Oreo out of the box.

Apart from new Pixel devices, Google is likely to reveal future plan of Android One program. Since the launch of Xiaomi Mi A1, it is being said that Motorola and HTC is working on Android One devices.
