Galaxy J5 (2016) India unit receiving Android Nougat


Late last month, Samsung rolled out Android 7.1.1 Nougat for Galaxy J5 (2016) in Europe, and now it has released the update in India.

The latest OTA update weight in at over 1.1GB, and brings Samsung Experience 8.5 to the the J5 (2016). It also adds home screen customization and features like multi-windows support, dual-messenger support, tweaked power saving modes and more. It also bumps the Android security level to August 2017.

The update is rolling out in phases, so don't panic if it hasn't reached your Galaxy J5 (2016) unit yet, as it will take few days to arrive. You can also check for it manually by going to Settings>About Phone> Download updates manually.

To recap, the Galaxy J5 (2016) was launched in India last year in May. It is currently retailing at Rs. 10,000, and comes with features like 5.2-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, 13MP/5MP front facing camera and 3100mAh battery.
