Google Assistant can now recognise what song is playing near you

The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL comes with an exclusive built-in song identifier that can recognize songs without need of third party app like Shazam.

Now this feature has come to more Android devices through the Google Assistant, and as expected Assistant will now be able to tell you which song is playing nearby be it in a bar, a restaurant or at home. To remind you the feature was already available in Pixel phones, but has now come to non-Pixel devices with Google Assistant enabled.

After summoning Google Assistant, you can ask "What song is this" or "What song is playing?", and Google Assistant will pull up a card for you showing complete information including name of the song, the artist and lyrics.

The card will also have song links to YouTube, Google Play Music and Spotify as well as an embedded link to search the song on Google.

The Google Assistant-song identification feature is now available on all Android devices, that support Google Assistant.
