Nokia 6 (2018) officially announced

HMD Global has officially announced the Nokia 6 (2018), the company's first smartphone of 2018. It is the successor of last year's Nokia 6, and has made its debut in China.

Talking about the design first, the Nokia 6 (2018) flaunts a metal unibody build that is made of 6000 series aluminium just like its predecessor, but HMD has got rid of the home button/fingerprint sensor and capacitive keys. Instead you are getting on-screen buttons and a rear mounted fingerprint scanner.

Even though HMD has ditched the fingerprint scanner/home button at the front, it has opted to stick with the traditional design. This means you're getting an 16:9 aspect ratio display and not 18:9.

In terms of specifications, the Nokia 6 (2018) has 5.5-inch 1080p 2.5D curved glass display protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 3. It is equipped with Snapdragon 630 chip, 4GB RAM and is fueled by 3000mAh battery.

It ships with 16MP f/2.0 rear camera with dual-tone and PDAF and 8MP f/2.0 selfie shooter. It supports Dual-Sight technology that utilizes both front and rear cameras simultaneously directly from your camera app to create Bothie – a split screen visual for both photos and videos.

It runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat, but HMD has promised upgrade to Oreo. Other features are fast charging, OZO audio, hybrid dual-SIM slots, fast charging, 4G VoLTE, USB Type-C and Bluetooth 5.

The Nokia 6 (2018) comes in Black and Silver colors and  will be available in two variants: 32GB storage version priced at CNY 1499 ($230 | Rs. 14,500) and 64GB storage version priced CNY 1699 ($262 | Rs. 16,600). It is now available for pre-order in China via Suning and will go on sale starting January 10.
