September Security Patch Rolling Out To Pixel, Nexus Devices & Essential Phone

Google releases a security patch every month. We are already a week into September, so it was about time for this month's security update. Earlier today, Google started rolling out the September security patch to the Pixel, the Pixel XL, the Pixel 2, the Pixel 2 XL, the Pixel C, the Nexus 5X, and the Nexus 6P. Alongside Google, Essential is also pushing out the September security update to the PH-1. The build numbers for the updates are given below:

• Nexus 5X (Oreo 8.1) — OPM6.171019.030.K1
• Pixel (Pie 9) — PPR2.180905.006, PPR2.180905.006.A1 (Verizon)
• Pixel XL (Pie 9) — PPR2.180905.006, PPR2.180905.006.A1 (Verizon)
• Pixel 2 (Pie 9) — PPR2.180905.005
• Pixel 2 XL (Pie 9) — PPR2.180905.005
• Pixel C (Oreo 8.1) — OPM4.171019.021.Z1
• Essential PH-1 (Pie 9) — PPR1.180905.036

The Nexus and Pixel Security Bulletin mentions three functional updates and 15 security fixes. The most noteworthy of the functional updates is a Bluetooth fix that will improve the audio quality through car speakers.

The 81.4MB security update for the Essential Phone also comprises of various fixes. There are fixes for Bluetooth car audio and accessibility services.
