Nokia Is Gearing Up To Rollout Android Pie Updates This Month

Nokia is on its way back to the top. HMD Global, which currently owns the rights to operate Nokia, has been successful in breathing life back into the brand. The resurrection is a result of HMD's approach for launching devices with stock Android under the Android One program. All Android One smartphones are promised two Android version updates and monthly security updates. Moreover, Nokia's recent smartphones offer a great hardware for the money. The combination of fast updates and excellent hardware has been the key to Nokia's recent success.

All Nokia phones that have been launched by HMD are promised an upgrade to Android Pie. In yesterday's event about the launch of Nokia 7.1 Plus, HMD revealed its plans for rolling out Pie for its smartphones. The company stated that the first phase of Android Pie updates is scheduled to be released this month itself. HMD is focusing on the Snapdragon 600 smartphones for the first phase of the rollout, which essentially means that the Nokia 6.1 and the Nokia 6.1 Plus will be getting Android 9 first.

HMD's flagships, which include the Nokia 8 and the Nokia 8 Sirocco, will not get the update this month. There isn't too much waiting, though, as the update to the 8 series is all set for November. It is good to see HMD giving out timely updates. In comparison, Motorola just begun rolling out Oreo to the G5 and the G5 Plus. So, basically, the recent lineup of Nokia smartphones is all going to taste Pie before the end of 2018. Kudos, HMD Global!
