Apple Unveils 14-Inch MacBook Pro with M6 Chip, 24-Hour Battery, Wi-Fi 7

TL;DR

  • Apple’s new 14-inch MacBook Pro debuts the M6 chip with a 10-core CPU and 12-core GPU, delivering up to 25% faster performance and major AI acceleration.
  • Battery life jumps to a record 24 hours, the longest ever in a Mac, alongside Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and faster Thunderbolt 5 ports.
  • Pricing starts at $1,999 with the same Liquid Retina XDR display and design, available to order now and in stores November 5th.

A New Heart For The Pro Workhorse

Apple has refreshed its most popular pro laptop, and while the outside looks familiar, the inside is a major leap forward. The new 14-inch MacBook Pro is the first Mac powered by the M6 chip, built on TSMC’s second-generation 2nm process.

Apple says the M6 delivers up to 25% faster multi-core CPU performance than the M5, and up to 30% faster graphics thanks to a new 12-core GPU with second-gen hardware ray tracing. For creators, that translates to 2x faster 3D rendering in Blender, smoother 8K ProRes timelines in Final Cut Pro, and dramatically faster on-device Apple Intelligence tasks.

The Neural Engine is now 16-core and over 45% faster, pushing more than 45 trillion operations per second. Apple is positioning this as its first truly “AI-first” MacBook Pro, built for local LLMs, image generation, and Xcode’s new agentic coding features.

Record-Breaking 24-Hour Battery Life

The headline upgrade for road warriors is battery life. Apple claims up to 24 hours of video streaming and 18 hours of wireless web browsing, up from 22 hours on the previous M5 model.

That makes it the longest battery life ever in a Mac, beating even the 16-inch model. Apple credits the efficiency of the 2nm M6 chip plus a slightly denser battery cell and adaptive ProMotion power management.

In real-world terms, Apple says you can edit 4K video for 14 hours straight, or run two full workdays of office tasks without plugging in. Fast charging over MagSafe 3 still gives you 50% in 30 minutes with the included 96W adapter.

Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, And Thunderbolt 5

Connectivity gets a future-proof overhaul. The new 14-inch MacBook Pro is the first Mac with Wi-Fi 7, offering peak speeds up to 3x faster than Wi-Fi 6E, lower latency, and better stability on crowded networks when paired with a Wi-Fi 7 router.

It also debuts Bluetooth 6 with Channel Sounding for precise Find My tracking, lower-power LE Audio, and rock-solid connections for AirPods Pro 3 and other next-gen accessories.

Both Thunderbolt ports are now Thunderbolt 5, supporting up to 120Gb/s bandwidth, dual 8K displays or triple 4K displays, and faster external SSDs. HDMI 2.1, SDXC card slot, MagSafe 3, and a 12MP Center Stage camera round out the ports and features.

Same Stunning Display And Design

Don’t expect a redesign. Apple is keeping the same aluminum unibody, Liquid Retina XDR display with 1,600 nits peak HDR brightness, and 120Hz ProMotion.

The display does get one tweak: the same nano-texture anti-glare option introduced last year is now slightly improved for outdoor visibility. The six-speaker sound system, Studio-quality mics, backlit Magic Keyboard, and Space Black and Silver finishes all return.

Memory starts at 16GB of unified memory, configurable up to 32GB on the base M6, with 512GB to 4TB SSD options. Apple continues to push its unified memory architecture as more efficient than traditional PC RAM for AI workloads.

What It Means For Pro Users

For developers, photographers, video editors, and scientists, the M6 MacBook Pro is about doing desktop-class work untethered. The combination of 24-hour battery, Wi-Fi 7 speeds, and on-device AI means large code compiles, local model fine-tuning, and 3D work can happen on a plane without compromise.

Owners of M1 Pro and M2 Pro machines will see the biggest jump — Apple claims up to 2.1x faster overall performance than M1 Pro and 3.5x faster AI workflows.

For M4 and M5 owners, this is more iterative unless you need the extra battery and wireless headroom. But as the first 2nm Mac, it sets the stage for the upcoming M6 Pro, M6 Max, and redesigned MacBook Air early next year.

Price And Availability

The new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 starts at $1,999 for 16GB memory and 512GB storage, the same as before. Education pricing starts at $1,899.

It’s available to order today from Apple.com, with in-store availability and first deliveries starting Wednesday, November 5th.
