Blackberry And Boeing To Build A Self Destructing Phone

According to Reuters, Canadian Smartphone maker BlackBerry announced that it will be teaming up with aviation giant Boeing to build an Android handset that will self destruct if it falls in the wrong hand or tampered.

Reuters also reports that, the handset, which encrypts call, is aimed at US defense and homeland security employees and contractors for which data and communication security is crucial.

BlackBerry CEO John Chen said “We’re pleased to announce that Boeing is collaborating with BlackBerry to provide a secure mobile solution for Android devices utilizing our BES12 platform,". "That, by the way, is all they allow me to say." he added.

At present, there is no word on the specification of the device. The report says that the handset will feature dual SIM slots and will run Android while utilizing BES 12 and can be configured to connect with biometric sensors and satellites. The BES 12 server will also be compatible with Android and iPhone handsets.

The report also says that Boeing has begun offering the phone to potential customers.
