HTC reportedly working on its own version of Android Auto dubbed 'Cello'

HTC has been experimenting with new product categories. Last year it launched the Re camera a small camera that works as a standalone device. At this years Mobile World Congress, HTC unveiled its first wearable device 'Grip' and 'Vive' virtual reality headset.

Now, according to a post on Reddit, HTC is working on its version of Google's Android Auto in-car system.

A Reddit author posted a screenshot of what appears to be an HTC release note indicating that the company is working on a device called 'Cello'.

Cello will run a special version of HTC's Sense UI made specifically for cars called Sense Automotive. The Sense Automotive runs on top of Android 4.4 KitKat, which could be updated to Android 5.0 by the time HTC Cello is announced. It will use MHL (Mobile high-definition link) to connect Android devices.

The features on HTC Cello includes Night Vision, Sonar, Mini HMI (Human Machine Interface), DVD, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Lane Departure Warning System, Navigation and GPS.

The post also claims that the HTC Cello is being tested since Q4 of 2014. Unfortunately, other details are scarce at this point.
