Lenovo Cast is a $49 streaming media device


Lenovo at its Tech World event in Beijing, China launched the company's first media casting device, the Lenovo Cast. The device brings contents from smaller or personal devices to the big screen.

With Lenovo Cast users can wirelessy stream content to any HDMI-enabled TV or monitor from DLNA or Mircast-enabled tablet or smartphone. It has a puck-shaped design and its dual-form factors allow users to hook it up behind TV or anywhere near it. The device features a single Micro-USB port, a Micro-HDMI port, and HDCP 2.0. It also supports HDMI 1.3. 

Lenovo Cast can be setup in three steps "First, plug Lenovo Cast into any large screen device's HDMI port. Then link Lenovo Cast to the device's signal. Then play and enjoy media from a DLNA or Miracast-enabled tablet or smartphone."

The Lenovo Cast has a dual frequency WiFi and can transfer content from up to 20 meters. It also mirrors any content users have on their smartphones as well. The device works with Android 4.3 and higher, Windows 8.1 and Apple's iOS devices. It delivers up to 1,080p video output. The device is 70mm in diameter, 15mm in height and weighs 50 grams.

The Lenovo Cast will be available beginning in August worldwide. Pricing is $49 (Rs. 3,000).
