Oppo R9/R9 Plus launching in India on April 5

Oppo has sent out media invites for an event, "Camera Phone Launch Event 2016" scheduled for April 5 in India, where the launch of recently announced R9 and R9 Plus smartphones are expected. It is not known if Oppo will launch both R9 and R9 Plus, or any one of them.

The company on its Twitter handle has also started teasing the R9/R9 Plus touting them to be "Selfie Expert+" smartphones. Oppo also says that the R9/R9 Plus has the "most dazzling and eye- catching finish, that will make heads turn" and "A phone that recognizes you"

To recap the specs, the R9/R9 Plus handsets utilize Oppo's SmartSensor image stabilizer and VOOC Charging technology. The R9 gets a 13-megapixel rear camera, while the R9 Plus has a 16-megapixel rear camera. The front camera on both the handsets is 16-megapixel. They also have Hybrid dual-SIM slot and fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button, which can unlock the phone in just 0.2 seconds.

As for the other specs, the Oppo R9 comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, MediaTek Helio P10 SoC, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, 4G LTE w/ VoLTE and 2850mAh battery. The R9 Plus falunts a phablet grade 6-inch 1080p display and comes with Snapdragon 652 SoC, 4GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage and 4120mAh battery.

In China, the Oppo R9 and R9 Plus are priced at CNY 2799 and CNY 3299 respectively, which is equivalent of around Rs. 29,000 and Rs. 34,000. They come in Rose Gold and Golden colors.
