Video Review

In the video below, we have reviewed OwnROM 3.0.

What makes this ROM special?

It's name. Yeah, you read it correctly. As the name suggests, you "own" this ROM.

As I have mentioned in the video review too, Mark V, the developer of OwnROM, holds at least one poll per week and asks the Own Droid Google+ community members whether they want a feature to be included or not. In the video, I mentioned the navigation bar tint feature and the default launcher. Both of these features were voted upon. Additionally, I took some snaps from the Google+ posts of the Own Droid community to show you some of the polls we have had over the last couple of weeks. Have a look:

If you want to request a feature, then you can also do that. Our very own David Hayes requested the 3Minit Battery Mod. Have a look:

So, OwnROM gives you a chance to have your take on what should be there in the ROM. Isn't that cool? I think it definitely is!

As we were taught in our school days, OwnROM is defined as the ROM based on the demands and wishes of the community.

The Features

OwnROM started rolling out it's first builds in the last week of April 2016. So, at the time of writing this blog post, OwnROM has only completed a month in the Marshmallow arena. And as I have been following the development of the ROM very closely, I can tell you that this ROM has made astounding progress over the last one month. Tons of features have been added, meeting the demands of the community at the sane time.

You can customize the status bar, notification drawer, recents, lockscreen & the various animations. Gesture Anywhere, Appbar, Pie Control & App Circle Bar are also packed under the hood.

You also do get the navigation customizations. We have the double tap to sleep on the navigation bar, one of the features which is surprisingly missing from most of the Marshmallow ROMs. We also get the SlimDim and SlimDim has many customizations packed under it's belt. Then we also get the various hardware key customizations. You can customize the long press and the short press actions as per your choice.

The DUI package which includes Fling, Smart Bar and Pulse is also expected to be included soon.

Seeing the great progress OwnROM has made within the last month, we can assure ourselves of more features in the coming builds. Don't forget that you can have a say on what should be there in the ROM. All you need to do is head over to the OwnDroid G+ community and cast
your vote if there are any active polls. You can also request a feature which you want to be included in the ROM.

Where can I find it?

As usual, Google Plus and XDA. The stable builds would make their way to XDA. Visit the OwnROM Google+ community by clicking here. You can find the download links of all the official builds by clicking here.

The Bugs

None. This is one of the most stable CM based ROM out there. I did not notice any lags or bugs, no random reboots or SystemUI FCs.
